CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL – 8:31

  • Kemper Center – updating chapel and rehabbing the building

  • Updates from the Chairman
  • BVIP Launch, sharing the post on social media and encouraging business to apply – post going live this week and a newsletter- start taking applications by end of October and then green light going for November – LIVE on GoDowntown.com
  • Upcoming terms – Rajiv, Brit and Bret upcoming changes in terms –
  • Fall preparations, upping our involvement in our committees and engaging with the needs for our groups. – send notifications
  • Lightin Up Update – moving the tree to veterans park, vendors, lights to light up downtown, the city is pulling the permits, street closures, security – motion to bring to vote – Kevin, & Mark Second – All in favor – motion passes
  • WEDC Connect Communities Agreement for Execution – term is up to renew – hoping renew will help with more funds in the future – the BVIP program – named a Connect City – Mark Motion to bring forward, Maria Approve
  • Alex makes motion to annually to budget $250 – Maria Motion – and Mark Second

  • 2025 Budget – changing the boundaries? Is this something that can we do?  What is the process to make the changes?

  • Spectrum OTT video campaign winding down – stats
  • Last Ravinia ad running
  • ValPak – submitting next month, November in-home delivery
  • BVIP Application – Live on site
  • Downtown Magazine – New issue out now – there is a flyer that went to the businesses – delivery to businesses – October 24th – fuzzy pictures or fuzzy print – if you would like to have a story in the magazine please send ideas and features for the downtown magazine –

 

  1. Committees Comments
  • Outreach & Retention – retooling info packets, new businesses, lulu birds, new pizza place, rockit tacos, Gordon’s has left downtown, space available to lease.

 

  • Streets & Beautification
  • Downtown Cleanup was held September 14th.
  • Graffiti scheduled to be cleaned up by Frank Bindelli.
  • New lighting project getting underway. Waiting for quotes.
  • Working on finding a real Christmas Tree for Wyndham.
  • Transit lot and hedges were trimmed

 

  • Events & Promotions
  • Sip & Stroll – Registration open and nearly full for October 5.
  • Lattes with the Law – September 19 at The Stella (The Café)
  • Civic Veterans Parade – Laura and Kevin have started a parade committee. Anyone else interested? Flower basket to be built – will use in St. Patrick’s Day as well
    Downtown Cleanup – Recap, potential partnership with Harborside Academy
  • Fall Fest – October 12, bigger and better. Window decorating sign up will live, please sign up
