At Last, we have the pleasure of sitting down with Sarai, to shine the spotlight on her love for Downtown Kenosha and her successful salon. Enjoy our conversation as we find out what’s going on w/ Sarai Gillmore of Salon on Sixth.

Q. Can you give us a little history of Salon on Sixth?
Sarai: I’ve had Salon on Sixth since 2012. The actual shop has been around I believe since the 80s. But I’ve owned it since 2012 and I expanded in 2015.

Q. Can you describe the types of products and services that you offer here at Salon on Sixth?
Sarai: We offer everything that is an organic-based product that also has the materials and the sustainability of the ingredients. Aveda, Intelligent Nutrients, Bob, which is back of the bottle, and our color is Color Space. 

Q. What makes Salon on Sixth stand out from all the other great businesses in downtown Kenosha?
Sarai: All our value added services that we offer. So you always get more for everything that you pay for. I’m never saying no. So we always give you options to everything that you desire. And then always going above and beyond for all of our customers.

Q. What is something about downtown Kenosha that you want future residents to know about?
Sarai: How much we care about our community and how we strive to make everything better as a community and how we work with our natural resources like Lake Michigan

Q. What is something that you personally like to do in downtown Kenosha?
Sarai: I love running my dogs at the lakefront. I love being by the lake and when the sun rises, when the sun sets, I just love being down there.

Q. Can you walk us through a day in the life of being the owner of Salon on Sixth?
Sarai: I wake up in the morning, I take my dogs for a walk, I get home and then I decide what my look is going to be for the day. And then I start my day and come open the shop. Slay some beautiful hair all day, close the shop, go home, sleep, and then reset, restart for the next day.

Q. Why do you love about Downtown Kenosha?
Sarai: I love downtown Kenosha because of the great water resource that we have in Lake Michigan and all the uniqueness and character downtown Kenosha offers.

Q. What is next for Salon on Sixth?
Sarai: Just keep on building and growing and doing beautiful hair and beautiful things.
