Business Viability Improvement Program (BVIP) Grant Launch
Property improvement grant applications now available

The Lakeshore Business Improvement District Board of Directors is pleased to announce a new grant program for downtown businesses/property owners. The grant funds, made available through the dissolution of the former Downtown Kenosha Inc. (DKI), BID assessments, and other sources, are aimed to help improve the viability and longevity of businesses within the BID district.

All business/property owners within the BID assessment district are eligible to apply for funds ranging from $2,500 – $5,000. Items of interest include signage, security cameras, façade improvements, and enhancements to storefronts. The grants are designed as a reimbursement program, and all projects must be completed before funds will be distributed.

“Many will remember the façade grants that were available years ago,” says Brit Windel, President of the Lakeshore BID. “BVIP is a fresh spin on the façade program that hopes to help with additional tangible improvements to properties that make operating businesses more viable.”

An independent committee comprised of financial professionals, contractors, and other experts will review applications and make funding determinations. The first cycle will close this fall to award funds before the end of the calendar year. Currently there is a limited allocation of funds, but additional funding sources for future years are being pursued. Interested business/property owners should apply by October 31, 2024 for consideration at https://godowntownkenosha.com/bvip-application

The mission of the Lakeshore Business Improvement District its board of directors is to create a livable, vibrant space which is sensitive to Kenosha’s historic roots, with significant activities and jobs that make it a destination for the region.
