Q: Can you share more about your journey from growing up in Trinidad to starting Élan Events Venue in Kenosha?
Chantel: Growing up in Trinidad, I was always surrounded by vibrant celebrations, music, and family gatherings. When Aaron and I moved to the U.S., we wanted to bring that warmth and connection to Kenosha. With years of experience in hospitality, we saw an opportunity to create a space that blended the Caribbean spirit with the needs of the local community.
Q: How have your Caribbean roots influenced the design and concept of the venue?
Chantel: Our Caribbean and South American backgrounds influence every aspect of the venue. From the colors and tropical decor to the bar and overall atmosphere, we aimed to create a warm, festive, and welcoming environment that reflects our cultures.
Q: What inspired you and your husband, Aaron, to transition from hospitality to owning your own event space?
Chantel: Hospitality has always been a passion, but owning our own space was a dream. We wanted to create something unique—a place where people could celebrate special moments affordably while feeling a personal connection to the venue.

Q: What does the name “Élan” mean to you, and how does it reflect the vision of the venue?
Chantel: Élan means “vigor, enthusiasm, and style.” It perfectly embodies the energy and passion we bring to every event. We wanted a name that reflects the elegance and Caribbean flair we infuse into our space.
Q: What elements of your Caribbean-inspired decor are you most proud of?
Chantel: I love that our space tells our story while allowing customers to personalize their events. The vibrant decor, cozy atmosphere, and attention to detail make the venue stand out.

Q: What types of events have you hosted so far, and how has the community responded?
Chantel: We’ve hosted micro-wedding receptions, baby and bridal showers, graduations, corporate gatherings, Halloween parties, and ladies’ events. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, especially about the welcoming atmosphere.

Chantel: We partner with local entrepreneurs and host women empowerment events. We’re also open to collaborating with businesses and charities, offering the space at a discounted rate for community-focused initiatives.

Chantel: We offer different pricing packages to make our space affordable while maintaining a high-end feel. Our goal is to provide a luxurious experience at a reasonable price.
Q: What were some of the biggest challenges in transforming the venue?
Chantel: The biggest challenge was turning a blank canvas into a warm and inviting space. The design and construction process was intense, but every obstacle only strengthened our determination to create something special.
Q: Can you tell us about the basement redesign?
Chantel: The basement was underutilized, so we transformed it into additional event space, including a game room. It has an old-time speakeasy vibe, and people absolutely love it!
Q: Where do you see Élan Events Venue in the next five years?
Chantel: We hope to expand our services, deepen our community involvement, and continue providing a welcoming space for life’s special celebrations.
Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to start a venue or business in Kenosha?
Chantel: Focus on the community first. Understand what people need and find a way to provide it. Build strong relationships with your customers and fellow business owners, and don’t be afraid to take risks while staying true to your vision.
Q: How do you balance your personal and professional life while running a business with your husband?
Chantel: It’s definitely a balancing act! We recently welcomed a baby girl, making things even more challenging. But Aaron and I prioritize communication and setting boundaries so we can enjoy time together as a family.

Chantel: Our opening party was the most special! It was incredible to share our space with the family and friends who supported us throughout the process. Seeing everything come together and hearing the feedback was truly rewarding.
