A Summer’s Garden was originally established by Gene Summers nearly 30 years ago and has evolved over time. Sixteen years ago, Kevin and Lyna took over the business, realizing it was the perfect time to venture out on their own. With a shared history in the floral industry and decades of working together, they’ve nurtured the shop into the beloved business it is today.

“We met while working at a flower shop 30 years ago,” Lyna shares. “We’ve been working together ever since, and after 27 years of marriage, we’re still each working with our best friend. It’s a dream come true.”

“We love fun and sassy items,” Lyna explains. “Our customers can find everything from cards and incense to jewelry and hand towels.”

“We aren’t part of any of the big wire services like Teleflora or FTD,” Lyna says. “That allows us to create custom arrangements based on our customers’ needs, whether they stop in or call from across the country.”

For Kevin and Lyna, having their business in Downtown Kenosha means being part of a tight-knit community. “Downtown Kenosha is a community of business owners that look out for each other like family,” Lyna shares. “We’ve been here for 16 years and have seen so much positive growth.”

In addition to their beautiful storefront, A Summer’s Garden offers delivery services to Kenosha, Somers, and Pleasant Prairie, ensuring that their carefully crafted arrangements reach as many people as possible.

While their work is demanding, Kevin and Lyna are reminded daily of the joy flowers bring to people’s lives. “It’s long hours and no holidays,” Lyna admits, “but flowers make people smile, feel loved, receive comfort – so many emotions. That’s what keeps us going.”

When they’re not working, Kevin and Lyna love to unwind at local spots like The Buzz, where they’re known for grabbing their caffeine fix.

As for something you might not know? Kevin hails from a small town in Upper Michigan, where his school district covered an impressive 500 square miles, while Lyna has only ever had two addresses her entire life, both right here in Kenosha.
