SUMMARY:THE PLACE WHERE THEY BURIED YOUR HEART: Christina Henry in conversation with S.A. Barnes
DESCRIPTION:A woman must confront the evil that has been terrorizing her Chicago Street since she was a child in this gripping haunted house novel from the national bestselling author of “The House That Horror Built” and “Good Girls Don’t Die”. \nWe’re so excited to invite one of our favorite local authors Christina Henry back to Kenosha! Join Christina at The Final Girl Bar on Wednesday\, November 5th at 6:30 p.m. for her release of “The Place Where They Buried Your Heart”. Christina will be discussing her latest book with Midwest sci-fi horror author S.A. Barnes (“Cold Eternity”)\, answering questions from the audience\, and signing books! \nSpecial note: The Final Girl Bar is opening specifically for us for this event! Let’s make sure to support them by purchasing food and drinks! They will have their full menu available. \nThis event is ticketed\, check out the details and grab your ticket here: https://www.blue-house-books.com/events/3480720251105 \nAbout “THE PLACE WHERE THEY BURIED YOUR HEART”: \nOn an otherwise ordinary street in Chicago\, there is a house. An abandoned house where\, once upon a time\, terrible things happened. The children who live on this block are told by their parents to stay away from that house. But of course\, children don’t listen. Children think it’s fun to be scared\, to dare each other to go inside. \nJessie Campanelli did what many older sisters do and dared her little brother Paul. But unlike all the other kids who went inside that abandoned house\, Paul didn’t return. His two friends\, Jake and Richie\, said that the house ate Paul. Of course\, adults didn’t believe that. Adults never believe what kids say. They thought someone kidnapped Paul or otherwise hurt him. They thought Paul had disappeared in a way that was ordinary\, explainable.\nThe disappearance of her little brother broke Jessie’s family apart in ways that would never be repaired. Jessie grew up\, had a child of her own\, kept living on the same street where the house that ate her brother sat\, crouched and waiting. And darkness seemed to spread out from that house\, a darkness that was alive—alive and hungry. \nAbout CHRISTINA HENRY: \nChristina Henry is a bestselling horror and dark fantasy author who releases her very first hard cover\, “The Place Where They Buried Your Heart” on November 4th. Her previous titles include “The House That Horror Built”\, “Good Girls Don’t Die”\, “Horseman”\, “Near the Bone”\, “The Ghost Tree”\, “The Girl in Red”\, “The Mermaid”\, “Lost Boy”\, The Chronicles of Alice series (“Alice”\, “Red Queen”\, and “Looking Glass”) and the seven-book urban fantasy Black Wings series. Her short stories have been featured in the anthologies “Elemental Forces”\, “Cursed”\, “Twice Cursed”\, “Giving the Devil His Due”\, and “Kicking It”. She enjoys running long distances\, reading anything she can get her hands on and watching movies with samurai\, zombies and/or subtitles in her spare time. She lives in Chicago with her husband and son. \nAbout COLD ETERNITY: \n“Cold Eternity” is the instant USA Today bestselling space horror from S.A. Barnes\, perfect for fans of “Severance”\, where desperation for eternal life leads to a fate worse than death… \nHalley is on the run from an interplanetary political scandal that has put a huge target on her back. She heads for what seems like the perfect place to lay low: a gigantic space barge storing the cryogenically frozen bodies of Earth’s most fortunate citizens from more than a century ago… \nThe cryo program\, created by trillionaire tech genius Zale Winfeld\, is long defunct\, and the AI hologram “hosts\,” ghoulishly created in the likeness of Winfeld’s three adult children\, are glitchy. The ship feels like a crypt\, and the isolation gets to Halley almost immediately. She starts to see figures crawling in the hallways\, and there’s a constant scraping\, slithering\, and rattling echoing in the vents. \nIt’s not long before Halley realizes she may have gotten herself trapped in an even more dangerous situation than the one she was running from…. \nAbout S.A. BARNES: \nS.A. Barnes is the USA Today bestselling author of “Cold Eternity”\, “Ghost Station”\, and “Dead Silence”. She works in a high school library by day\, recommending reads\, talking with students\, and removing the occasional forgotten cheese.

Patrick’s older brothers can’t help but notice the striking\, Peter Pan–like stranger who has suddenly appeared in their midst.\nWhat starts as an adolescent rebellion soon spirals into a whirlwind of self-discovery and unexpected connections. Andrea’s off-grid cabin provides a perfect sanctuary for Mallory\, a synesthete with a hypersensitivity to sound that can trigger flashbacks from her childhood.\nThe getaway that’s largely abandoned during the off season starts out idyllic\, until Andrea’s once-loving behavior turns controlling and abusive\, and Mallory once again finds herself not wanting to go home. After a particularly disturbing altercation\, Mallory escapes into the subzero night and stumbles into Shay\, a teenage girl\, injured and asking for help. But it isn’t long before she realizes that Shay isn’t the only one who needs saving.\nA story about sisterhood and second chances\, “A Winter’s Rime” looks to nature to find what it can teach us about bearing hardship and expanding our capacity to forgive—not just others\, but ourselves. \nAbout CAROL DUNBAR:\nCarol Dunbar is a working writer and former actor who left her life in the city to live off the grid. SUMMARY:Meet & Greet with Jeannee Sacken
DESCRIPTION:Jeannee Sacken is back with her newest release\, “The Women Who Stand Between”\, a suspenseful women’s fiction and the first of a brand new series. Known for her Annie Hawkins series\, Jeannee’s writing combines mystery and suspense\, romance\, and women’s fiction all in one. \nJoin Jeannee Sacken at Blue House Books on Saturday\, October 11th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate her new book! Each purchase will receive a free copy of her new novella\, “Depth of Field”\, the epilogue to the Annie Hawkins series. Jeannee will be chatting with excited readers and signing books\, so stop by anytime during the event to meet this fantastic Milwaukee author! \nAbout THE WOMEN WHO STAND BETWEEN: \nJulia Wilde is one of the best wildlife cinematographers in the business. But while on location in southern Africa\, she finds herself unfairly blamed for an accident that leaves several crew members dead. Blacklisted by the movie industry\, she takes a job in the film department at a midwestern university only to discover that tenure depends on her making a movie. \nWith a small crew of talented filmmaking friends in tow\, Julia heads back to Zimbabwe to make a documentary about the Mambas—a fierce\, all-female\, anti-poaching unit who risk their lives every day to protect endangered species. \nBut as Julia soon learns\, being behind the lens is no protection from poachers who will do whatever it takes to protect their business and keep this movie from seeing the light of day. \nAbout JEANNEE SACKEN: \nA former university professor\, Jeannée Sacken is now a photojournalist who travels to the ends of the earth\, documenting the lives of women and children. She also photographs wildlife and is deeply committed to the conservation of endangered species. Described by “MKE Lifestyle” magazine as “Indiana Jones with a camera\,” Jeannée has summitted Mt. Kilimanjaro\, canoed the Zambezi River\, kayaked the North Pacific\, and driven through far-western Mongolia in a blizzard. Many of her adventures have been fictionalized into her novels. \nHer debut novel\, “Behind the Lens”\, the first book in the Annie Hawkins Series\, has won numerous awards\, including the 2021 American Writing Awards Novel of the Year and the Hawthorne Prize. “Double Exposure” was a finalist for the Firebird Awards for Best Suspense\, Romantic Suspense\, and Women’s Fiction. “The Rule of Thirds” won the Killer Nashville 2024 Silver Falchion Award for Best Suspense and the 2023 Literary Global Award for Novel of the year\, among other prizes.

SUMMARY:MOCKINGBIRD COURT: Juneau Black in Kenosha!
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Shady Hollow! It’s a small town populated by friendly animal folks\, from birds to bears. The calm is marred only by the occasional murder. Twists and turns are just part of the ride in the cozy world of Shady Hollow. So grab a cup of coffee from Joe’s Mug\, put up your paws\, and dive into the series that readers are calling “gently bizarre” and “cute\, quirky\, fluffy fun\, with a touch of lurking darkness.” \nJoin Juneau Black at Blue House Books to celebrate the sixth and FINAL installment of the Shady Hollow series\, “Mockingbird Court”. On Friday\, October 10th at 6:30 p.m.\, writing duo Sharon Nagel and Jocelyn Cole will help us wish our favorite woodland creatures farewell as they discuss their latest cozy mystery story. \nThis event is ticketed\, check out the details and grab your ticket here: https://www.blue-house-books.com/events/3539020251010 \nAbout MOCKINGBIRD COURT: \nIn the latest installment in the beloved Shady Hollow series\, everyone’s favorite vulpine investigator Vera Vixen must contend with a cold-hearted killer—and the ghost of her own past. \nIt’s a crisp\, cool autumn in Shady Hollow\, and preparations are underway for the annual Harvest Festival. Creatures have flocked from far and wide to partake in the seasonal festivities\, from pumpkin carving to pie tasting to soup throwing. With all these new faces around town\, it’s the perfect time for someone to slip in unnoticed. \nUnless that someone is Bradley Marvel\, the most famous author—and most noticeable personality—in any woodland warren. It seems the wolf is on the lam. Back in the city\, a body was found in his penthouse apartment at Mockingbird Court\, and Marvel skipped town before the questioning could commence. \nMarvel claims to be innocent\, and it’s up to Vera and her friends to piece together what might have happened that fateful night so many miles away in the beating heart of the big city. But things get complicated when Vera learns that she also knows the victim … and might even be implicated herself. \nAbout JUNEAU BLACK: \nJuneau Black is the pen name of authors Jocelyn Cole and Sharon Nagel. They share a love of excellent bookshops\, fine cheeses\, and a good murder (in fictional form only). Though they are two separate people\, if you ask either of them a question about their childhood\, you are likely to get the same answer. This is a little unnerving for any number of reasons. Sharon lives in Wisconsin\, where she works as a librarian. Jocelyn lives in the city-state of Philadelphia\, where she also writes romance as Elizabeth Cole.

SUMMARY:Meet & Greet with Silvia Acevedo
DESCRIPTION:Join Silvia Acevedo at Blue House Books on Saturday\, September 20th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the release of her latest middle grade book\, “Mail-Order Monsters: Crash Course”\, a fantasy story that mixes humor with wise insights on friendship and forgiveness\, perfect for young readers! \nSilvia will be joined with her husband\, Jeff Miracola\, illustrator\, and will be chatting with customers and signing books\, so stop by anytime during the event to meet this fantastic Wisconsin author duo! \nAbout MAIL-ORDER MONSTERS: CRASH COURSE: \nWhat does a 10-year-old boy desperate for new friends do when he sees an ad for mail-order monsters in the back of a comic book? He orders them\, naturally. \nTen-year-old Marco Torres needs a new bestie. Or a few. He’s on the outs with his EX-best friend and needs someone to talk to\, confide in. So he takes a chance on an ad in the back of an old comic book promising something big: MAIL-ORDER MONSTERS. Marco hopes they’ll make amazing new besties and scare off his bully\, who in a mean twist of fate happens to be the twin of his crush. When the monsters arrive\, Marco unleashes their magic and draws the reaction he’d hoped for from his classmates—until the monsters’ hilarious\, uncontrolled escape through the school’s ceilings makes it nearly impossible to hide them from adults. And when Marco’s ex-bestie challenges him to a grudge match to finally settle their score\, it’s Marco’s monsters against an enemy robot in a race on remote control trucks through the neighborhood junk yard. But through it all\, Marco begins to wonder who should really be fighting his battles? And what exactly is he fighting for? \nAbout SILVIA ACEVEDO: \nSilvia Acevedo writes stories for kids and adults who want magic and mystery in their world. \nShe scared up wild monster hijinks in MAIL-ORDER MONSTERS: CRASH COURSE\, visited the ghost La Llorona in THE HAUNTED STATES OF AMERICA\, and barely escaped the wrath of Greek and Roman gods in her mythological GOD AWFUL series. She’s pleased that her works have garnered great reviews from trade publications\, prestigious awards from industry organizations\, and kind words from readers. \nSilvia also worked in New York publishing at Scholastic\, literary agency Writers House\, and the non-profit Inkluded Academy\, which champions diversity in publishing. She led the Wisconsin chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and served on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Writers Association. Before that\, she enjoyed 25+ years in broadcast news\, covering everything from presidential politics to state fair food-on-a-stick. \nFind her at SilviaAcevedo.com \nAbout JEFF MIRACOLO: \nJeff Miracola has been making fantasy art since 1993 for such cool projects as “Star Wars”\, “Mars Attacks”\, “Dungeons & Dragons”\, and “World of Warcraft”. He’s most known\, though\, for his 30+ years creating art for “Magic: The Gathering”. He’s also done conceptual toy and video game design\, editorial illustrations\, and picture books\, as well as activity books for Klutz/Scholastic. Jeff’s a sucker for animals\, so when he’s not creating art\, he’s feeding his many cats and befriending all the squirrels\, chipmunks\, and birds that swoop his way.

SUMMARY:THE LIVE-IN TEMPTATION: Brighton Walsh in conversation with L.B. Dunbar
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a love story with all the best tropes: single dad + nanny\, forced proximity\, forbidden romance\, men in uniform\, and of course\, grumpy + sunshine! “The Live-In Temptation” by local author Brighton Walsh has all this and so much more! \nJoin Brighton at Blue House Books on Wednesday\, September 3rd at 7 p.m.\, where she will be discussing the latest installment in the Starlight Cove series with fellow romance author L.B. Dunbar (the Lakeside Cottage series and the Road Trips & Romance series)\, answering questions from the audience\, and signing books! \nThis is a pre-release party\, so you’ll be able to purchase your book one day earlier than its release date. Come celebrate with this fabulous local author and grab a signed copy! \nThis event requires a $5 deposit\, check out the details and grab your ticket here: https://www.blue-house-books.com/events/3194320250903\n*NOTE that $5 can be used on any in-store transaction the night of the event only. \nAbout THE LIVE-IN TEMPTATION: \nHiring the chaotic woman I pulled out of a shed fire to be my daughter’s nanny was a bad idea. Letting her live with me? Even worse. \nChloe Bradshaw is too vibrant\, too bold\, and way too young for me. She’s pure sunshine-in-a-hurricane energy and the exact opposite of the calm\, steady influence my daughter needs. \nBut Emma adores her from the second they meet\, and I’d do anything for my little girl. Including sharing a roof with the one woman I shouldn’t want. \nChloe’s the walking definition of off-limits. And one hell of a temptation I can’t stop thinking about. \nBetween midnight snack run-ins\, hair-braiding lessons\, and the way she looks in my stolen hoodie\, forbidden stopped being a warning and started feeling like a dare. \nI swore I wouldn’t cross that line with her. Then I did. Again. And again. \nAnd now\, what we both insisted was only temporary is starting to feel like it could be real. Suddenly\, I’m not just her boss or her landlord. I’m the guy threatening to burn down anything that hurts her. \nBut the end date of our arrangement is looming\, and her suitcase is still half-packed. She says she’s not staying. I say she’s already mine. \nAbout BRIGHTON WALSH: \nAward-winning “USA Today” and “Wall Street Journal” bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love—writing. She likes her books how she likes her tea—steamy and satisfying—and adores strong-willed heroines and the protective heroes who fall head over heels for them. \nBrighton lives in the Midwest with her real-life hero of a husband\, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore\, frequent dance parties (okay\, so it’s mostly her\, by herself\, while her children look on in horror)\, and more laughter than she thought possible. \nAbout L.B. DUNBAR: \nL.B. Dunbar loves sexy silver foxes\, second chances\, and small towns. If you enjoy older characters in your romance reads\, including a hero with a little silver in his scruff and a heroine rediscovering her worth\, then welcome to romance for those over 40. L.B. Dunbar’s signature works include women and men in their prime taking another turn at love and happily ever after. \nShe’s a “USA Today” Bestseller as well as #1 Bestseller on Amazon in Later in Life Romance with her Lakeside Cottage and Road Trips & Romance series. L.B. lives in Chicago with her own sexy silver fox.

SUMMARY:Meet & Greet with Caroline Woods
DESCRIPTION:Join Midwestern author Caroline Woods at Blue House Books on Saturday\, August 16th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the paperback release of “The Mesmerist”\, a 2024 NPR Book of the Year! \nCaroline will be chatting with readers and signing books! Stop in anytime during the event to meet this fantastic Midwestern author and grab a signed copy of “The Mesmerist”\, a historical thriller that is as captivating as it is an honest review of women’s bodily autonomy and independence. It’s book is perfect for fans of “The Briar Club” and “The Lost Apothecary”! \nAbout THE MESMERIST: \n“Immersive and compelling . . . “The Mesmerist” will linger long after you turn the last page.” –NPR \nBefore hypnotism\, there was Mesmerism. In 1894 Minneapolis\, spiritualism of every stripe is all the rage\, and women are dying under mysterious circumstances. When a new guest arrives at the Bethany Home for Unwed Mothers\, refusing to speak\, the stories of unexplained deaths seem unconnected—until Faith’s suspicious reticence sets the house abuzz with whispers of dark magic. \nAbby\, the Bethany Home’s treasurer\, thinks the rumors swirling around Faith are nonsense\, but she recognizes the danger of a good story. Abby tasks Faith’s roommate\, May\, with tracing Faith’s path to the Bethany Home. Desperate to end her year at Bethany Home engaged and on track to her happily-ever-after\, May begins digging into Faith’s shadowy background. But the more May learns\, the more she’s forced to question the dubious motives of everyone around her\, and as the body count rises\, May must reevaluate her future\, and which lies she’s willing to tell\, for whom. Inspired by a true crime that rocked the nation\, Caroline Woods reimagines a classic American story through the eyes of three unforgettable women. \nAbout CAROLINE WOODS: \nCaroline Woods holds an M.F.A. in fiction from Boston University. She is the author of the novels “The Mesmerist”\, which was a 2024 NPR Book of the Year; “The Lunar Housewife”; and “Fräulein M”. SUMMARY:Meet & Greet with Julia Byrd
DESCRIPTION:Join Julia Byrd at Blue House Books on Saturday\, August 9th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the release of her first contemporary romance\, “Caviar Marriage”\, a marriage-of-convenience romcom largely based in Racine! Julia will be chatting with excited readers and signing books\, so stop by anytime during the event to meet this Chicago author! \nAbout CAVIAR MARRIAGE: \nShe wants to land the man and the mansion… but first she’s got to land a few fish. \nStella Woodward is ready to ditch her unsatisfying job and boxy apartment for a vintage modernist mansion and a gorgeous new husband.\nBut as it turns out\, asking the icy\, honorable Everett Novak to marry her so they can split a family inheritance isn’t the strangest part of her life.\nStella is shocked when Everett agrees to her slipshod plan for a shared future. The older generation is passing them an estate complete with its own school of sturgeon whose delicate caviar is highly prized. By the time Stella and Everett realize the endangered fish are missing\, their elderly relatives have fled town. Although marrying Everett seems to offer Stella a life of easy luxury\, she knows he just wants her inheritance\, not a tangle of legal threats. \nYet even when Stella can’t offer him much besides the last jar of caviar\, Everett confesses that he likes her more than is strictly convenient. Before anybody else ends up in jail over fish crimes\, Stella decides to go after the most valuable catch in the world… and the slippery chance at a real marriage. \nAbout JULIA BYRD: \nJulia Byrd lives and writes in Chicago with her handsome dog and scruffy husband. Her first two books are both Gothic romances. “Caviar Marriage” is her first contemporary romance\, and she’s currently at work on another. She enjoys working with other people’s kids\, baking beautiful treats\, exercise\, and reading.

SUMMARY:Meet & Greet with Audrey Wilson
DESCRIPTION:“A chilling and unsettling story that will stay with you long after you finish.” – Jessica Huntley\, author of “Don’t Tell a Soul” \n“So devilishly creepy it will make your skin crawl.” – Avanti Centrae\, #1 International bestselling thriller author \n“This book is unsettling\, cult-like and had me glued to the pages. I could not put it down.” – Chandra Claypool\, “Where the Reader Grows” \nJoin Audrey Wilson at Blue House Books on Saturday\, August 2nd anytime between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the release of her latest thriller “The Ever End”\, a story of a mysterious figure\, a dead televangelist\, and a series of bizarre rituals\, perfect for readers of elevated horror and thrillers! \nAudrey will be chatting with excited readers and signing books\, so stop by to meet this fantastic local author! \nAbout THE EVER END \nMargo has spent most of her life without a family\, and with a telekinetic gift she can’t quite explain. Since losing her mother less than a year ago\, she’s felt more alone than ever. When her fiancé Sam takes her to his remote Iowa hometown to meet his family and begin planning their wedding\, Margo finally begins to feel like she’s home. But the feeling doesn’t last long\, and Margo soon feels out of place among her future in-laws. Sam’s family is different from what she’d expected. Not only is their obsession with a deceased televangelist unsettling\, but Margo has begun seeing a strange\, mysterious figure from her past—a figure that she thought was put to rest with her mother’s passing. \nAs Sam’s family begins to take over the wedding plans\, Margo tries to regain some control by turning to the town’s sole wedding planner\, who soon becomes her only confidant\, perhaps because she reminds Margo of her former love. But the more Margo tries to distance her past from her future with Sam\, the deeper his family pulls her in\, forcing upon her generationally archaic traditions that border on ritualistic. As Margo unearths the family’s dark web of secrets\, she begins to suspect that she may have been brought here for a reason\, and it may cost her life. \nIn the psychologically unsettling vein of “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” and “The Women in the Dark”\, combined with the socially aware suspense of “Get Out”\, “The Ever End” takes elevated horror to a new level with a queer\, twisted\, feminist story that will keep readers guessing until the end\, and stay with them long after that. \nAbout AUDREY WILSON \nAudrey Wilson is the award-winning author of “Landing Like Rain”\, “Only Human”\, and “Wrong Girl Gone”. Having earned her BA in Television Writing and Producing from Columbia College Chicago\, Audrey has written over two dozen screenplays and television episodes. She has won various awards for her writing\, including a regional Emmy nomination. \nAudrey has also spoken professionally at numerous writing events\, including the Golden Crown Literary Society Conference\, the Let’s Just Write! Chicago Writers Conference\, and the International Dublin Writers Festival. \nAudrey resides in the suburbs of Chicago with her family.

A highly publicized search followed but her body was never found. The case went cold\, but the echoes still linger. \nEthan Hall\, a former renegade detective turned ER doctor\, left law enforcement to escape the horrors of the kid crime division. But on the tenth anniversary of Callie’s disappearance\, his former partner\, Pete Kramer\, makes a desperate request. Pete is the veteran detective who originally investigated the case. Now he’s dying\, and to ease his conscience and get closure for the Jones family\, he needs Ethan to return to the haunting work he left behind—and solve what happened to Callie\, once and for all. \nWord soon spreads and everyone in the small town of Cherryview feels a rush of hope that answers will finally be found. Amid a sweltering heatwave\, Ethan’s investigation gains momentum\, but reexamining old evidence won’t be enough. He needs a new way into the case\, no matter how dangerous or unconventional. \nSoon Ethan’s methods draw him deeper into a twisted psychological game. Because there is much more to the nightmare of Callie’s disappearance than he imagined\, including a connection with his own dark past . . . and secrets that are still worth killing for. \nAbout CHARLIE DONLEA: \nCharlie Donlea is the critically acclaimed\, “USA Today”\, “Indiebound” and #1 internationally bestselling author of propulsive psychological thrillers including “The Girl Who Was Taken”\, “Some Choose Darkness”\, “Twenty Years Later” and “Those Empty Eyes”. \nPublished in nearly 40 countries and translated into more than a dozen languages\, his books have sold more than 1.5 million copies in the U.S. alone. Donlea has been praised for his “soaring pace\, teasing plot twists” (BookPage) and talent for writing an ending that “makes your jaw drop” (The New York Times Book Review). \nHe was born and raised in Chicago\, where he continues to live with his wife and two children. \nAbout AND THERE HE KEPT HER: \n“A dark and complex mystery that will consume you.” —Julie Clark\, New York Times bestselling author \nThey thought he was a helpless old man. They were wrong. \nWhen two teenagers break into a house on a remote lake in search of prescription drugs\, what starts as a simple burglary turns into a nightmare for all involved. Emmett Burr has secrets he’s been keeping in his basement for more than two decades\, and he’ll do anything to keep his past from being revealed. As he gets the upper hand on his tormentors\, the lines blur between victim\, abuser\, and protector. \nPersonal tragedy has sent former police officer Ben Packard back to the small Minnesota town of Sandy Lake in search of a fresh start. Now a sheriff’s deputy\, Packard is leading the investigation into the missing teens\, motivated by a family connection. As clues dry up and time runs out to save them\, Packard is forced to reveal his own secrets and dig deep to uncover the dark past of the place he now calls home. \nUnrelentingly suspenseful and written with a piercing gaze into the dark depths of the human soul\, And There He Kept Her is a thrilling page-turner that introduces readers to a complicated new hero and forces us to consider the true nature of evil. \nAbout JOSHUA MOEHLING: \nJoshua Moehling is the “USA Today” bestselling author of the Ben Packard series and a two-time Lammy award nominee for Best LGBTQ+ Mystery Thriller. SUMMARY:A RESISTANCE OF WITCHES: Morgan Ryan in conversation with Greta Kelly
DESCRIPTION:“A witchy war-time delight!” –Kate Quinn\, New York Times bestselling author of The Briar Club\nWith World War II raging around her\, a young witch abandoned by her coven must race against the clock to find a book of unspeakable power before it lands in the hands of Hitler’s witches. With deeply felt stakes and characters you can’t help rooting for\, “A Resistance of Witches” is a propulsive witchy novel perfect for your summer reading.\nJoin Morgan Ryan\, debut author of “A Resistance of Witches” on Wednesday\, July 16th at 7pm at Blue House Books as she discusses her historical witchy novel with local fantasy author\, Greta Kelly!\n*A $5 deposit is required to reserve your seat\, and that $5 can be used on any in-store transaction the night of the event only.\nPurchase the reservation deposit here: https://www.blue-house-books.com/item/WIdogLxePUmcNq1YaaG-og\n\nAbout A RESISTANCE OF WITCHES:\nAs World War II rages around her\, a witch abandoned by her coven must journey to find a book of unspeakable power before it lands in Nazi hands.\nStubborn\, plain-spoken and from an unimpressive family\, Lydia Polk never expected to be accepted into the Royal Academy of Witches. Now\, with Hitler’s army rampaging across Europe\, the witches of Britain have joined the war effort\, and Lydia is key to the cause: she must use her magic to track down magical relics before Hitler and his sycophants can. When a Nazi witch infiltrates the Academy with heart-breaking consequences\, the coven is left shaken\, exposed and divided. The elder British witches have no interest in further loss of coven life in service of a government that has forced them into hiding for decades\, no matter the consequences to the world. But with the discovery of the Grimorium Bellum\, an ancient book that leaves a trail of death and destruction wherever it goes\, Lydia knows her mission has never been more urgent.\nAlone and woefully outnumbered\, Lydia makes her way to the heart of occupied France\, where she finds allies in Rebecca Gagne—a fierce French resistance fighter chockful of secrets—and Henry Boudreaux—a handsome Haitian American art historian with a little magic of his own. Together\, they traverse the country\, stalked by the natural and supernatural alike\, in search of the grimoire. But\, as Lydia soon discovers\, finding the book is only half the battle—the Grimorium Bellum has a dark agenda all its own. Lydia must subdue it before the Witches of the Third Reich can use it—but she’ll have to survive the book herself\, first.\n\nAbout MORGAN RYAN:\nMorgan Ryan is the author of stories born from a lifelong love of magic\, a fixation on historical minutiae that borders on the obsessive\, and a tendency to fall down rabbit-holes. She was raised in a family of writers in upstate New York and received her degree in theatre performance from Northeastern University. She now lives in Chicago with her husband. “A Resistance of Witches” is her first novel.\n\nAbout GRETA KELLY:\nGreta K. Kelly is (probably) not a witch\, death or otherwise\, but she can still be summoned with offerings of too-beautiful-to-use journals and Butterfingers candy. She currently lives in Wisconsin with her husband EJ\, daughters Lorelei and Nadia who are doing their level-best to take over the world.\nThe Warrior Witch duology\, consisting of “The Frozen Crown” and its sequel “The Seventh Queen” are both out now. Greta’s third novel\, “The Queen of Days”\, a stand-alone adult fantasy is also out now.\n\n\nCost: $5\nevent website: Events 2220420250716 | Blue House Books\nFacebook link: A RESISTANCE OF WITCHES: Morgan Ryan in conversation with Greta Kelly | Facebook
