DESCRIPTION:For all of the interest in the American Civil War (1861-1865) one neglected factor as to why the war happened and lasted as long as it did has been the impact of religion and faith on soldiers\, civilians\, and leaders\, both military and political. Even though the Civil War was not a war of religion\, we cannot understand America’s most profound event if we overlook the fact that the conflict was a very religious one. \nReligion and faith were perhaps the greatest social motivators that helped bring about the Civil War\, promoted and encouraged both the abolition and secession movements\, and supported troops in battle and camp.

SUMMARY:Shibori Furoshiki: Japanese Reusable Wrapping “Paper”
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that most wrapping paper is coated in plastic which makes it impossible to recycle? Furoshiki is cloth used to wrap gifts in Japan and is both reusable and beautiful. This fabric can be used to tie packages to put under your tree without sacrificing that festive spirit! Shibori dying is traditionally an indigo dye technique used in Japan\, other colors will be available so you can customize your furoshiki. Students will be provided two squares of fabric to practice the techniques and can bring their own pre-cut fabric (must be lighter in color and 100% cotton) to dye as well.

For example\, a drink that is normally $10 is available to passport holders for only $5. The passport makes it fun and easy to explore Kenosha\, support small business\, and discover new places you may otherwise never have visited! \n  \nHow do I use it? \nThe Holiday Cheer Passport is valid from Wednesday\, December 6th until Saturday\, December 9th\, from 4-8pm during the week and 2-6pm on Saturday.* A list of participating businesses is available on the Chamber website and inside the passport. Just show your passport to the bartender and order one of the special items listed on our website! \n  \nHow do I buy a passport? \nPassports can be purchased online on Eventbrite! Passports ordered on or before November 29th will be mailed via USPS. To ensure you have your passport in time\, orders placed after November 29th will need to be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce during normal business hours\, Monday-Friday from 8am until 4:30pm.
