SUMMARY:45th Annual Mayor's Turkey Day Run/ Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Mayor’s Turkey Day Run consists of a 2 mile run/walk\, 10k run\, and a FREE Kid’s 50-yard dash along Kenosha’s lakefront! We encourage the entire family to participate! The event takes place just outside of the Civil War Museum\, 5400 1st Avenue\, and runs along the Kenosha lakefront on city streets\, bike paths\, and through parks. \nMostly level\, the course splits at the one-mile mark of both the 2-mile and 10k routes\, with water stops at miles 2 and 4 for 10k runners. Both races go towards the Kenosha Beach House on Simmons Island and towards Kennedy Drive. The 10k goes towards Carthage College / Alford Park Drive before heading back down 7th Avenue. \nPacket pickup is at the Kenosha Public Museum\, 5500 1st Avenue\, on Wednesday\, Nov 27th\, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. and on Thursday\, Nov. 28th\, from 7:30 am to 8:45 am on race day (15 minutes prior to the start of the race). \nFruit\, water\, and other refreshments will be available after the race. \nMayor’s Cup Trophy goes to the overall male and female top finishers in 10k and 2-mile races. \nMedals will be awarded to top three finishers in each gender age group. The age groups are: 9 and younger; 5-year groups starting with 10-14 and ending with 75-79; one designation for runners 80 and older. \nShirts are available to the first 1\,500 race entrants. \nREGISTRATION: \nRegular Registration Fee 7/15/2024 – 11/24/2024: Price of $25 / 14 & under $20 \nOnline registration closes at 11:59PM on 11/24/2024. DESCRIPTION:Save yourself the trip to Germany this year and join us for our inaugural Oktoberfest on Saturday\, September 28 in the St. Elizabeth Church Courtyard\, 714 49th Street. There is no admission fee\, and the event is open to the public. The festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. (to be timed with the end of the 4:00 p.m. Mass at St. Elizabeth) and run until 11:00 p.m. \nCome and enjoy Oktoberfest games and trivia. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.  Ed Jacobi & Die Musikmeisters Band will provide authentic Bavarian music\, which starts playing at 7:00 p.m. Prost! \nOktoberfest traces its roots to 1810 when the Roman Catholic King of Bavaria\, Ludwig I\, married Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. King Ludwig I has a strong\, direct connection to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. His face is on the front main doors of the St. Francis Seminary on South Lake Drive. In 1848\, King Ludwig I of Bavaria gifted a painting of the Annunciation to Old Saint Mary\, which has hung above the church’s high altar ever since. St. Mary’s Orphanage in Elm Grove was opened on June 21\, 1859 after the king gifted a grant of 20 acres of land to the School Sisters of Notre Dame on the condition that the Sisters would take charge of twelve to sixteen female orphans. It remained open until 1923 when the name was legally changed to Guardian Angel Home. \nThe current parish of St. Elizabeth was established in 2000 as a result of merging the parishes of St. George and St. Casimir. St. George parish was founded in 1849 by 30 German Catholic families. Originally erected in 1866 and extended in 1877\, the current church on the St. Elizabeth property still retains the original name of “St. George” in the brickwork on the façade above the main entrance. The cream city brick of the church exterior\, built by Kenosha’s German immigrants\, will provide the backdrop to this celebration of our parish’s German heritage.

DESCRIPTION:Music At Twilight\, formerly known as Twilight Jazz\, has extended its season this year with an additional concert in September. The genre of music is expanding to bring in a variety of sounds for one’s listening pleasure. Jazz will still be a part of the series and will also include other great sounds from new bands to Kemper. \nThis year the grounds on the south lawn of Anderson Arts Center will open at 5:00 p.m. and the concerts will begin at 6:00 p.m. and go until 8:00 p.m. Seating is first come\, first serve so bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the music along with the view of the lake. \nAll concerts are free\, drinks and food are available for purchase. DESCRIPTION:Peanut Butter & Jam Concert Series presented by the City of Kenosha and Happenings magazine. The 22nd season of the free outdoor concert series takes place Thursdays\, July 11th – August 29th. Offering a varied lineup of musical genres sure to entertain. \nSelect solo\, duo and trio artist perform at 11:30 am (shows will be announced soon) Headliners perform at 6pm. \nAmped up full bands perform at 6 pm. \nConcert-goers are welcome to sit in Veterans Memorial Park to enjoy the concert\, or across the street at Navy Memorial Park near the Harbor. Sixth avenue is closed between 52nd Street and 54th Street for the evening show\, for pedestrian safety. People are reminded not to sit close to the streetcar tracks and to use designated crosswalks and pedestrian routes. \nDon’t’ forget to bring your own chairs or blankets to sit and enjoy the show! \nShow line up includes \nJuly 11th: The Now- A staple of Wisconsin cover bands for more than 18 years\, performing rock\, country and pop covers spanning five decades. \nJuly 18th: Fast Times – A high energy band that brings you back to the 1980s music and styles. \nJuly 25th: Disco Circus – Creating a nostalgic experience by combining the energy and Excitement of a three-ring circus with the grooviest Music from the 1970s with three lead vocalists. \nAugust 1st: 7th Heaven – Whether you’re a fan of classic hits or a newcomer to their sound\, 7th Heaven’s performances promise an exhilarating journey through the best of pop music. \nAugust 8th: Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials – Performing at major blues festivals worldwide\, Lil’ Ed is a multiple Blues Music Award winner and returning favorite to Peanut Butter & Jam. \nAugust 15th; yankee Cowboy – Midwest’s hottest country rock band\, performing upbeat\, exciting modern country music along with blasts for the past. They are known for their big sounds with free-part harmonies. \nAugust 22nd: Jonny Lyons & the Pride – A five-piece show band\, the group has been entertaining folks all over the Midwest. \nAugust 29th: The Yacht Rock-ettes – The world’s first and only female lead yacht rock cover band brings back the smooth rock of the 1970s and early 1980s.
