We will have a special event menu indoors for the day that includes items like Pumpkin Spice cheese curds and vegan corn dogs. Other food can be purchased outdoors from Lakefront Brewery’s CurdWagon\, open from 12-6pm\, featuring all gluten-free\, autumn-themed food such as Thanksgiving dinner cheese curds\, poutine\, and more.\nCOSTUME CONTEST: Calling all adults\, kids\, and dogs to dress in their best costumes for a chance to win fun prizes! SUMMARY:45th Annual Mayor's Turkey Day Run/ Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Mayor’s Turkey Day Run consists of a 2 mile run/walk\, 10k run\, and a FREE Kid’s 50-yard dash along Kenosha’s lakefront! We encourage the entire family to participate! The event takes place just outside of the Civil War Museum\, 5400 1st Avenue\, and runs along the Kenosha lakefront on city streets\, bike paths\, and through parks. \nMostly level\, the course splits at the one-mile mark of both the 2-mile and 10k routes\, with water stops at miles 2 and 4 for 10k runners. Both races go towards the Kenosha Beach House on Simmons Island and towards Kennedy Drive. The 10k goes towards Carthage College / Alford Park Drive before heading back down 7th Avenue. \nPacket pickup is at the Kenosha Public Museum\, 5500 1st Avenue\, on Wednesday\, Nov 27th\, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. and on Thursday\, Nov. 28th\, from 7:30 am to 8:45 am on race day (15 minutes prior to the start of the race). \nFruit\, water\, and other refreshments will be available after the race. \nMayor’s Cup Trophy goes to the overall male and female top finishers in 10k and 2-mile races. \nMedals will be awarded to top three finishers in each gender age group. The age groups are: 9 and younger; 5-year groups starting with 10-14 and ending with 75-79; one designation for runners 80 and older. \nShirts are available to the first 1\,500 race entrants. \nREGISTRATION: \nRegular Registration Fee 7/15/2024 – 11/24/2024: Price of $25 / 14 & under $20 \nOnline registration closes at 11:59PM on 11/24/2024. This is Kemper Center’s largest fundraiser of the year\, helping to fulfill the Center’s mission to preserve the historic nature of the site and buildings and provide programs promoting understanding of local history and the arts in a historic setting for cultural\, recreational\, and educational activities. \nUnless otherwise noted\, admission is free with donations appreciated. \nGallery of Trees: \nOpening Night Christmas Gala on November 30. This is the opening night of the Christmas season at Kemper. The event is open from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. with tickets purchased for $30 each. Appetizers abound; see lots of decorated Christmas trees and wreaths; enjoy a first sneak peek at Durkee Mansion all decked out in Holiday attire. This is Kemper Center’s largest fundraiser of the year with generous donors and sponsors providing the trees\, wreaths\, and mantelpieces\, and the decorators who so beautifully decorate everything. \nView the Gallery of Trees\, December 1-8 \nHours vary. See the decorated trees\, wreaths\, and mantelpieces. There is no cost. \nDurkee Mansion: \nSee the historic 1860s Durkee Mansion fully decorated for Christmas; there is no cost. DESCRIPTION:Santa will visit the Kenosha History Center on three Saturdays: November 30\, December 7 and December 14.\nSanta Claus will be available for photos and to talk to the youngsters from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on November 30 & December 14. The December 7 event will run from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Theses events are FREE to the public.\nPLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CAMERA (there will not be a photographer on site).\nThe Kenosha History Center Gift Shop will be open and Kenosha-centric items will be available to purchase for holiday gifts.\nIn addition\, the Southport Lighthouse will be open for tours and climbs on each Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm. A lecture on the “Rouse Simmons Christmas Tree Ship” will be held at noon on each of these days.
