SUMMARY:Faith in the Fight: Religion and the Civil War
DESCRIPTION:For all of the interest in the American Civil War (1861-1865) one neglected factor as to why the war happened and lasted as long as it did has been the impact of religion and faith on soldiers\, civilians\, and leaders\, both military and political. Even though the Civil War was not a war of religion\, we cannot understand America’s most profound event if we overlook the fact that the conflict was a very religious one. \nReligion and faith were perhaps the greatest social motivators that helped bring about the Civil War\, promoted and encouraged both the abolition and secession movements\, and supported troops in battle and camp.

This informative annual meeting is hosted by the Lakeshore Business Improvement District (BID). The event will take place on Thursday\, March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Stella Hotel & Ballroom\, 5706 8th Avenue. \nLearn more about the BID\, recent projects and programs\, the recent downtown rebranding\, and more. Hors d’oeuvres and networking will be followed by BID updates and an introduction of BID board members. The board is led by President Brit Windel and Vice President Alex Kudrna. There will be a video presentation\, produced by Backyard Dream Studio\, which focuses on Downtown Kenosha’s past\, present\, and future. The video includes interviews of business owners and local leaders. \nRefreshments will be provided. There is no cost to attend\, however registration is required. The registration deadline is Thursday\, March 7. \n  \n
