SUMMARY:Faith in the Fight: Religion and the Civil War
DESCRIPTION:For all of the interest in the American Civil War (1861-1865) one neglected factor as to why the war happened and lasted as long as it did has been the impact of religion and faith on soldiers\, civilians\, and leaders\, both military and political. Even though the Civil War was not a war of religion\, we cannot understand America’s most profound event if we overlook the fact that the conflict was a very religious one. \nReligion and faith were perhaps the greatest social motivators that helped bring about the Civil War\, promoted and encouraged both the abolition and secession movements\, and supported troops in battle and camp.

SUMMARY:Community Fossil Hunt and Beach Clean-up
DESCRIPTION:Kenosha’s distant past is hidden all along the lakeshore\, fossils of ancient coral reefs and the animals that lived there flood the sandy beaches. Kenosha’s future depends on us taking care of the beautiful spaces we have. So join us for a community fossil hunt and beach clean-up! Curator of Education Nick Wiersum will be onsite to answer questions about fossils and to help identify what has been found. While we’re looking for fossils\, we might as well grab a trash bag and help clean up the beach too! No registration required.
